Bot banning

Postby Arepo on 2009-02-11T18:36:00

In the last week this forum's had a bunch of obvious spambots signing up, which we haven't been able to do much to filter, since the main phpBB site that hosts anti-bot mods has been down.

I'm about to go on a deleting/banning spree to get rid of some of them. If by any chance you're a real person and I ban you, please email me and I'll reverse it... I'll only delete when I'm pretty certain, since it's irreversible. If I do manage to delete any real people, email me to request my hara-kiri.

I've stopped the influx of bots by adding an "are you a bot" question to our registration. We still don't require email rego so our forum remains rather accessible :)
