Hi, Embraceunity.
How did you find your way here?
I notice you take interest in people like Douglas Hofstadter who study consciousness. While I haven't read Hofstadter in particular, consciousness is a topic that seems to fascinate me endlessly. It's problems fall on an intersection of science and philosophy, they have potentially massive ethical implications, and they might be solved in our lifetime!

Among other authors on the topic, I read a lot of Dan Dennett, who coauthored The Minds I with Hofstadter actually.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy Felicifia!

Thanks for your warm welcome!

I found my way here via Alan Darwst. I am a big fan of Daniel Dennet, and saw him speak on the "domestication of wild memes." He is a fascinating guy, and a great philosopher of mind.

This forum is already proving to be very interesting, and is a great outlet for some thoughts that I have. It is quite hard to casually bring this stuff up in conversation, know what I mean?

Glad to see you here, and yeah, I know what you mean :)

What's your background, btw? Lot's of computer scientists, economists and doctors seem to turn to util... (relatively few philosophers, it seems)
"These were my only good shoes."
"You ought to have put on an old pair, if you wished to go a-diving," said Professor Graham, who had not studied moral philosophy in vain.
