New name for Charity International

Postby sethbaum on 2010-11-28T19:28:00

Hi all... Ludvig Lindström from Charity International (http://www.charity.se) asked me to post this. (CI is a Sweden-based charity with a utilitarianism emphasis.)

Find name and win 5000 SEK (ca $720)!

Charity International has concerns about changing its name. This because the current name does not really reflect the type of organization we are. Many are those who at first glance associate us with a pure charity organization.

Therefore we are now launching a competition aimed at finding a new name for us. The ideal name is a name that is positive, eye-catching and reflects our mission. It has to be a name that works internationally since we are an international organization.

How does it work?

Read the description of our organization below. Brainstorm and try to find various suggestions for names that you think fits the organization. Choose the best ones and email them to competition@charity.se. The person who comes up with the best proposal is awarded with 5000 SEK (ca $720)! If several participants submitted the same winning name, the person who sent it in firs wins. The last day of competition is December 10th this year. The winner will be presented on Charity International's website shortly after the competition is over.

Take the opportunity to be the one who named one of the emerging major organizations!

Good luck!

About us

Charity International is a scientifically-based, nonprofit organization that aims to promote happiness and reduce suffering worldwide.

Mainly we work in two ways. One part of the work includes informing people of effective strategies for increasing their personal well-being and how to live a life that also serves the happiness of others, even animals. Every year we have a happiness conference where leading figures in happiness research and wellbeing informs about on the latest findings and how they can be applied practically. We also have a happiness blog where bloggers share tips on how to improve the wellbeing of your life.

The second part of our work is to get happiness into politics. We want the politics to be designed with the support of the available happiness research so that we on a scientific basis can create good conditions for a happier society and a happier world.

Much of our work is therefore designed to inform policy makers about effective measures to achieve this. Work towards politicians is done both at a regional and at a national level in the countries where we are established. In Sweden, for example, we helped to bring about a number of parliamentary bills aiming to increase resources to the happiness research and to explore the possibilities of setting up some kind happiness index to continuously measure the citizens' welfare.
