Within any given board, discussion topics ought, IMO, to be sorted based on the date of last reply, with those replied to most recently at the top. I think it would make for a better layout.

I've just realised that it does, and that the posts that confused me into thinking it doesn't were an admin post at the top, and one where I'd misread the date. Ignore the last message. And this one too, because this one doesn't make sense without the previous one.

I wonder why there's a blank thread here...
