hi all,

I recently moved to NYC for a new research position (http://www.cred.columbia.edu). On Friday I got to chat with Toby Ord and Nick Beckstead, who were in town for an NYU conference on valuing lives. This was nice and refreshing, since I hadn't spoken in person with utilitarians in quite a while.

It also has me wondering, are any of you are in/near NYC, or are there other utilitarians in town who you could point me to?

And while we're at it, it might be nice to sort out where people are located more generally, so that people in other cities can connect, and so we all know who to track down when we're traveling. (Any one in Seattle? I'll be there in April.)

Melbourne, Australia. I tried to go to Oxford for a year. It was a great plan until my visa was rejected. Twice, at that. Anyway, although I have no new plans to relocate, I'm quite enjoying my study here, so dont' feel sorry about it!

This seems like such a good idea with so few of us around that it’s bizarre we haven’t done it before (maybe we have, and I’ve just forgotten?). I’ve stickied the thread for easy access.

I just joined the forum - I like the setup. I enjoyed meeting with you in Providence (this is Brent - I can't remember what my username was on felicifia.com), so I do think it is a great idea for utilitarians to meetup when they can. Right now I am living and working in Washington DC. Let me know if you are ever in the area! (This goes for everyone)
