New Forum entry for AI?

Postby rehoot on 2011-08-20T17:18:00

There has been a fair amount of interest in artificial intelligence and the need for some type of ethical routines in that intelligence. Would the posts be better organized if there were a forum category for "Utilitarian Artificial Intelligence?"

The posts would be easier to peruse for members and visitors interested in that topic.

Yeah, that's a good suggestion, rehoot. It's possible that there would be enough discussion on AI in particular to justify a thread. But it does seem that there are other topics that are futuristic and speculative that relate to discussion of AI. Transhumanism for one. Existential risk for another. Also, the current discussion about maximum utility density systems feels to me like it would belong with these topics. Do you think these discussions are too diverse to be grouped?

They do seem to have a common thread. How about something like:

Utilitarian Future: Artificial Intelligence, Society, Existential Risk, etc.

The comment could expand on it:
"A forum for discussion of the future of utilitarianism including ethically-aware artificial intelligence, responding to existential risk, speculation about utilitarian societies, ethics and technology, and related topics."
