Welcome for Rob

Rob, I warmly welcome you to our utilitarian forum.
It's obviously been an intense ten days, but I hope you're enjoying yourself.

If I could take this moment to speak as to Rob and Faithlessgod:
I really value both of your contributions to the site. You're both really intelligent communicators.
I note that some of your recent contributions have been fairly adversarial. Well we're gathered here to maximise utility, not to decrease eachother's wellbeing. So I'm only happy with the tone of the debate if you are. If either of you would like to PM me to air any frustrations you might have, please do.
I would like you to both know that however frequently or infrequently you decide to post, you will always be welcome here.

Thanks, Ryan.

When I saw this thread I was just going to say hi to Rob and answer something that I see that Ryan has already brought up.

Whilst I do think my points stand there is no question I could and want to make them in a less adversarial manner. I apologise if this has upset you.Not an excuse but maybe I have got into bad habits arguing with divine command theorists, subjectivists and relativists. Either way I want you Rob and anyone else to know that anyone, via PM to me ideally, can suggest how to make my points less adversarially. Whether my points are right or wrong is, of course, open to debate but if my style prevents debate that defeats the underlying purpose of why I am here. And the last thing I want to do is put people off this forum.

So hi Rob please don't go and simply to help smooth things over I will deliberately avoid clashing swords with you - until we are all more settled.

Martin
