Have a vague memory that someone was. I'd like to ask him for a HIC endorsement, but given that he probably receives tonnes of spam it'd be better coming from someone who knows him.

Is anyone on here in contact with Sam Harris?

You might be thinking of some old PMs in which I mentioned that I emailed some philosophers. I got responses from some philosophers, including at least one well-known philosopher, but I have never emailed or otherwise contacted Sam Harris. Try writing a concise email and see what happens (if you haven't already done so).

Given it a go, got an automated reply that suggested I'd never hear back from him. Shame, it's a pain that we can't get in touch with one of maybe two consequentialists with public recognition...

He being the other one Hopefully Will has/will be. In any case, there are certainly more paths that lead to him.
He appeals to quite a different crowd to Harris, though.

I asked Carl Shulman about him, since he (Carl) works for SIAI. He said he'd ask, but didn't imagine he'd be too interested. Thiel seems more like someone who play economic games rather than a utilitarian - some of his political views are bizarre.
