Bridge leads

A couple of lead problems from Mollo's Case for the Defence that stood out:

1)West has

842
2
A764
A8543

South deals, and the auction goes
1S 3S*
4S

east and west silent throughout
*standard limit raise

2) West has

KT4
98
T98754
J9

Uninterrupted bidding with South as dealer again:
2H 4D*
4H 4S
4NT 5H
7H

* promising a solid suit (6+ I guess? It's not specified)

(hint - this is supposed to be much harder than the first Q)

Pick your leads. Obviously Mollo gives 'answers', but I wonder whether people here will agree with them...

PPS Just to make as clear as possible, what I know of Mollo's bidding style (besides what I've specified above), is that it's mostly pretty natural, but includes:

Weak NT
Strong 2s (8 1/2 playing tricks)
Stayman
1st round cuebids
Lightner doubles

... and not much else.

1. It's normal to lead singletons against trump contracts with a few trumps...I basically need partner to have either the SK, SA, or HA for it to work, but I don't see anything better.

2. A spade. I might lead a diamond with some partners - it's highly likely that from his POV opponents appear to have 13 off the top [South appears to have six/seven hearts, two black aces, and shedloads of diamond winners], and his reason for not Lightner-doubling might be to avoid tipping them into a winning 7N. But most people just double with a void in this situation. Counting declarer's tricks gets me to four diamonds, six/seven hearts, the SA and likely CAK, in which case my best shot appears to be to cut communications. In which case, I need him to have a stiff in one pointed suit, and to correctly guess to lead it, with a void in the other. This points to a spade, as does the fact that if he doesn't have thirteen off the top, leading a spade cuts down on his options, as he no longer has a finesse position [it takes balls of steel to take a first-round hook in a grand slam]
