Anyone in the Bay Area

I recently graduated college and moved up to the San Francisco. If anyone else is around I'd like to meet up sometime.

There are too few utilitarians out there.

Are you aware of the Lesswrong/Singularity Institute community? I think quite a few of them are utilitarian (at least preference utiltiarians).

Might be moving there myself by the way, but going to Oxford first so could take up to a year.

I know them quite well. Most of the group is more interested in Singularity and futurist thought than utilitarianism itself though. Awesome, but I'd be interested in pure-utilitarianism meetups.

There is an emerging social movement of Effective Altruism that has grown out of the organisations Giving What We Can and 80,000 Hours. Effective Altruists have a lot in common with utilitarians and often share priorities. The latest incarnation of effective altruist organisation is Mark Lee's THINK (The High Impact Network).

If you would like to meet utilitarian-like people, I suggest you submit an application on the THINK webpage for a San Francisco branch of THINK and Mark Lee will let you know if anyone helpful is nearby.
